THE PEOPLE OF THE PEAK

A race of winged, bird humanoids they vary greatly in physiology, from the dominant near human-looking (in some cases, almost angelic) variety to the rare virtually “giant bird” like. They are known as “The People of the Peak” and sometimes “The Birdmen of the Peak”, though many consider "birdman" a pejorative term. Led by Emperor Talos, they are considered an arrogant bunch who are renowned for their warrior skills and are an essential part of the Allied Nations thanks to their ability to fly and their nearly impregnable nation of cliffs, hills and mountains that help (along with the Ice Mountains to the north and west) separate and contain The Kren Empire from the northern Allied Nations and has afforded those nations the chance to grow and thrive without the constant threat of Kren invasion - which is something they are quick to remind their allies of.

 

Possibly as a result of their prickly nature, some question their skill as warriors and insist they are only successful because they can fly and do not possess a true warrior's heart because they are known to retreat to a defensive position on the higher ground should a battle start to get away from them. Though many consider that a simply solid military tactic. The Ice Barbarians are probably their greatest critics in this regard.
